Poison and potions!
I ordered these really fun labels from Vanessa at http://afancifultwist.typepad.com/a_fanciful_twist/2009/09/potions-and-spells-and-cards-oh-my.html and yesterday when one of my goblins claimed her cough was just too much for school (not really but I let it go this time)got out our containers and started concocting our version of Halloween! Eye of Newt, from our small banty chicken eggs and pickle juice! Ear of troll, dried pumpkin patch leaves. Magic Spell, pink food color, keys, glitter and pink birthday candles! Thanks, Vanessa for kicking off a creative and spooky afternoon!!

Old doors, patient carpenter!
I was reading at the lettered cottage, http://www.theletteredcottage.net/, that Layla wanted to replace her doors with windowed doors, old ones! Guess what? I did! I had been collecting old doors for years, much to my husbands dismay. Old wooden doors are HEAVY! Then when we renovated this old ranch I wanted to take it back in time as far as I could! So with my old doors in tow and a very patient carpenter, in they went, one by one. A total of 8 are installed with just two left to go. Here are the upstairs doors.

Like seeing a ship come in!!
Sometimes my kids make me laugh! My oldest daughter Cloie had a babysitting job for a soon to turn 3 year old this week end. All was fine until bed time, then in the course of 2 hours, said child had al least 3 fits, 2 time outs, 3 location changes and finally passed out naked in her parents bed! Fifteen minutes later the phone rings and it is the mother saying they are on their way home. Cloie says, "Mom it was like being stranded on a desert island and then finally seeing a ship come in!" Laughed my head off!!

June? July? Where are you?
i've never been one to wish time away, but June and July 2009, may have been two of my most challenging months. First off, I don't do well with illness or confinement, both of which occured in June with the onset of shingles and then a chest infection that lasted until mid July. Just getting on my feet and ready to enjoy some summer, and a good friend, employees husband, the man who remodeled our current home, passed away by his own hand. Spent the entire last week bringing food to family and supporting my friend. My husband in turn had to do his job and hers, making his life challenging as well.....plus temps here in Wyoming were only in the mid 60's, hardly summer like weather. So Welcome August, bring on the heat and the renewing strength we need to pick up the pieces of our life and begin anew!

Dressing Table/ Vanity's @ the Paris Apartment
Claudia at the http://parisapartment.wordpress.com is having a vanity for humanity pic posting! Go see all of the beautiful vanity's there! I really use mine though, not just a pretty picture!I love, love, love my vanity and have had one since I was 14, can't imagine not sitting down to my daily rituals every day! Every one should have one, none of this standing in the bathroom stuff!!
The above is my jewelry, accessory dresser! All of the bling lives here!

My vanity sits in a nitch that was part of the original homestead house, 2 foot thick stone walls form the walls, this was a pass through into a bedroom that now houses a huge bathroom, the vanity if from the 40's and painted a color called Ruby Slippers, the pink chair I got on Ebay for a song, it still goes up and down with a foot pedal and the pink vinyl is original!

Still storming!!
Okay, the last heard from me, was shingles, sprained ankle, kids shipped to Grandmas.....it got worse!! Oh yes, managed to find a lovely chest cold to next in my lungs, that required not one but TWO rounds of antibiotics and the shipping of my sorry self to Grandmas! Back at home with a week of relative wellness under my belt, but I'm afraid to believe it is truly over. Calendar is still cleared and I will be attempting re-entry at a much slower pace. It is the middle of July and only 68 degrees here in Wyoming, maybe it isn't just me that is missing summer, seems the whole state is a bit off kilter!!

My sidekick, Jilly Bean, made this for dessert the other night, right after her husband, Galen, made melt in your mouth steaks. I died, went, and then came back for more!!

When lightning strikes..............
Okay, having the shingles during a garage sale was not enough to stop me, the large piece of metal dropping on my chest, causing severe bruising was not enough to stop me, but the twisted ankle with stretched ligaments, swelling and limping, ice packs of peas and the lightning storm that found the entire family in my bed, including panting german shepards........that, got my attention. So I am officially in LOCKDOWN! Have cancelled all obligations, both personal and social, cleared the calendar, shipped kids to Grandma's and I am home bound until further notice and the storm passes, both physically and mentally.

Cute kids, cooking!!
From this to this!
My favorite sistah, Mindy, came bearing a bushel of rhubarb! Stolen rhubarb, no less! Since they were letting it go to seed, not picking it, thus insuring it wouldn't grow anymore, we felt it our duty to pick it so that it can continue to grow and maybe they will want it when it comes back! But if they don't, then we have yet another crop to pilfer!!
So now it is all chopped up, frozen and ready for rhubarb crumble (love that word), rhubarb bread, rhubarb muffins, rhubarb any other ideas??
